PROTEAS SERCUE T20 SERIES WIN IN CHRISTCHURCH
South Africa defeated New Zealand by 33 runs to win the fifth match and claim a remarkable 3-2 series win in Christchurch.

Coming into the decider, the momentum had shifted dramatically. Once he arrived, he showed no trouble in dealing with timing on a pitch that showed some uneven bounce and blasted six sixes and five fours in his dynamic 75 from just 33 balls. Eventually he was dismissed but did enough to allow South Africa to finish on a strong total off 187/4.
The Black Caps lost Katene Clarke (2) in the second over. But everyone to follow could only manage decent knocks but could not anchor themselves while South Africa’s bowlers made life difficult and stifled the New Zealand batsmen. Eventually the target drifted away from them and allowed the Proteas to seal the win with a comfortable 33 run margin.
Ultimately, winning the series 3-2 away from home will be seen as a major boost for South Africa as they continue to build momentum in the T20 format.
