Manchester City vs Liverpool

The Premier League’s back from the international break. And what a way to kick-start Saturday’s action. Top of the table clash, between City and Pool, as we complete a third of this crazy season.  

The Treble winners have shown that they are mortal, after that tremendous 4-4 draw at Chelsea. Pep Guardiola will be pleased that Erling Haaland should be fit while Nathan Ake could be a late addition (based on fitness). Kevin De Bruyne remains in the recovery room, alongside John Stones, while Sergio Gomez is a major doubt.

Liverpool faced no difficulties in a 3-0 win over Brentford. However, this will be a much sterner challenge for the Reds. They have not won at the Etihad since 2018 in all competitions, extending to 2015 in the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp’s troops, though, have recorded only one win in the previous five away games in all competitions. Stefan Bajcetic, Thiago Alcantara, and Andy Robertson remain on the sidelines with injuries, while Curtis Jones is a major doubt.

Given Liverpool’s recent away form and their EPL record at the Etihad, it would take a brave punter to throw some cash on them! However, there’s value in backing them for the win, with both teams finding the back of the net.

If City are to maintain their EPL dominance over the Scousers, they should grind out the win, with the visitors netting a consolation goal. Otherwise, they could cancel each other out with a scoring draw. A draw will favor the chasing clubs.
