LE CLERC SHINES AT SILVERSTONE

Charles Leclerc returned to the top step of the Formula One podium with a superb victory in a dramatic 2026 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, ending a long winless streak and securing Ferrari’s landmark 250th Formula One win.

The Monegasque delivered a composed drive in a race shaped by incidents, shifting fortunes and a late Safety Car that decided the outcome.

Pole-sitter Kimi Antonelli looked set to strengthen his championship lead but suffered a difficult afternoon after an early setback and a mechanical issue left him out of the points. Mercedes capitalised through George Russell, who finished second, while Lewis Hamilton thrilled the home crowd by securing third place in Ferrari colours despite serving a five-second penalty during the race.

The closing stages were neutralised after Max Verstappen crashed out following a rear-wing failure, bringing out the Safety Car, and denying fans a final-lap battle for victory. Although the finish lacked a racing sprint to the flag, Leclerc’s flawless drive ensured he claimed a richly deserved triumph.

The result breathes new life into Ferrari’s title challenge, while Antonelli’s championship lead was cut as Russell and Hamilton both gained valuable ground in the drivers’ standings.
