FA CUP FINAL – Manchester Derby

CITY vs UNITED

Last season, for the first time, we witnessed a Manchester Derby in a FA Cup final. City went on to win that game 2-1 and later went on to clinch the Champions League. That UCL win over Inter Milan allowed them to enter the land of Continental treble Winners. A year later, we are so fortunate to relive the derby experience in the prestigious cup final, but will it be any different this time around?

The Citizens have gone through another amazing campaign as they claimed a record fourth consecutive Premiership crown. Real Madrid eclipsed them in the Champions League semi-finals but the men in Blue can still go on to complete a domestic double that would further solidify why they are by far the best club in Britain and arguably one of the top three clubs in world football right now. Yes, there’s a cloud hanging over City with the 100+ charges against them awaiting a verdict and possible punishment. But that will be a bridge to cross when the time arrives.

As for their Red neighbours, it’s been devastating campaign. As it stands, even if United lift the cup, Erik Ten Hag looks set to leave club as the reports have poured in about the club holding meetings with other managers. United have been struck with their worst possible injury hit season and along with other issues at the club, it has resulted in a lowly eight spot finish in the League, which leaves them with the FA Cup as a possible saving grace amidst all this madness.

United will have some of their injured players back but Harry Maguire is ruled out. The Red Devils have been consistently criticised for their style of play, lacklustre performances, and many believe that it was individual moments of brilliance from players is what got through difficult situations. Despite all of this, they have earned the right to face the best team in the country in the worlds oldest cup competition, and they will try their best to ensure the Wembley arch is lit up red.

Where do you find value as a punter? It would probably be City to win and both teams to score. Or you could be brave and back the Red Devils, both within 90 minutes. One thing for certain, it’s going to be an amazing game that City should have enough quality to complete the double, but you’d be crazy to dismiss the Red Devils before a ball has been kicked.
