Sam Allardyce returns to management to help Leeds avoid relegation while Mikel Arteta is set to face an acid test at St James’ Park

Manchester City vs Leeds United
06/05/23 – 15:00

Big Sam Allardyce has never doubted his abilities. He has made some big claims including saying that he is as good as Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp. So, with 4 games left, Leeds have turned to Big Sam Allardyce to save them from relegation. If he keeps the Whites from dropping into the Championship, he may have proven that his claim is true.

Allardyce’s reputation of not being relegated from the Premier League ended with West Brom in 2021. He’ll now have to perform another ‘Great Escape’ and put on an even better performance than Steve McQueen in the 1963 classic motion picture. The basement battle is tight with only five points separating five clubs – two are destined to join rock-bottom Southampton, who look set to go down.

The disadvantage for Allardyce is, he’ll have to hope for a miraculous managerial bounce as he will face Pep and Man City in his first game on Saturday.

Playing the reigning champions at this stage is a daunting task for any club given their form and the record – breaking Viking that will not stop scoring. City are dreaming about the treble and Leeds will be another hurdle to get over. And they shouldn’t have any hassle unless their visitors play the game of their lives.

MAN CITY WIN & OVER 3.5 GOALS

Newcastle vs Arsenal
07/05/23 – 17:30

The Magpies are edging closer to Champions League football next season, but to do that they’ll need to stand firm and stop the Gunners in their tracks. It’s been a decade since St James’ Park witnessed a European night and the Geordies can sense it’s almost back.

This is going to be end-to-end football. Both clubs are fighting their respective battles. The Gunners know that anything apart from a win will see their title challenge come crashing down. ‘Castle knows that anything but a win, will allow the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham to a glimmer of hope of snatching that UCL spot from them.

After a wobble of four PL games without a victory (D3, L1), Arsenal finally got back to winning ways midweek, beating Chelsea 3-1 to show title rivals Man City they’re still alive and kicking. Newcastle came from a goal down to defeat Southampton and take their winning run to eight from nine. But now comes a real acid test.

With five goals from his last three PL outings, four of which arrived after the break, Callum Wilson is in red-hot form for the hosts. Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard struck a brace in midweek, has hit a purple patch himself, with his last four PL away goals arriving in the first half. We’re in for a treat as neutrals but fans of both clubs will be chomping on their nails.
