Liverpool vs Manchester United

This is going to be all-out war at Anfield.

The Red Devils have been relentless. Their comeback win at Old Trafford to knock out West Ham from the FA Cup, is a testament to what the club is all about right now.

Many fans and pundits were calling for Erik Ten Hag’s head before Liverpool’s visit to Manchester back in August. United won that game and began to steady the ship. Liverpool’s season went on a downward spiral and Jurgen Klopp was the media’s next target. Six months down the line, they will square off again with revenge very much in the air for the hosts.

Despite the humiliating defeat to Real Madrid, Liverpool drew at Selhurst Park and defeated Wolves.

They will have Van Dijk and Jota available, but it’s going to be tough to shut out Rashford and United’s attack. The Reds will have to dig deep and hope the Kop end can help rake in the three points and bragging rights.

Prediction: Liverpool to win 2-1

Manchester City vs Newcastle

Eddie Howe and his Magpies will have to put their Carabao Cup loss behind them and return their focus to the league. City will aim for three points, and nothing else, to ensure they stay on the heels of Arsenal.

Newcastle had gone four Premier League games without a win and lost at Wembley. They’ll have their work cut out if they want to leave the Etihad with a result. The Toon can also look at their traveling form to draw inspiration. Away from home they have been rock-solid. Eight games unbeaten (W4, D4), longest unbeaten Premier League run, as they try to return to the top 4.

City, level on games with the league leaders, are currently five points behind high-flying Arsenal. Guardiola cannot afford any more slip-ups and three points are a priority. City have not lost to Newcastle in their last 13 home games, another victory will set a joint League record for victories against a single opponent. But historical trends will be the last thing on Pep’s mind as he tries to reel in Arsenal.

The Magpies have two games in hand over Spurs, who sit in 4th spot, 4 points above them. Closing that gap will be tough and it most likely will increase as it looks like a straightforward City win this weekend.

Prediction: Man City to win 3-1

Leeds
Chelsea vs Leeds

It’s difficult to think what Chelsea fans will do if they lose to Leeds. Will a defeat be the end of Mr. Potter?

We’re all aware of the energy that the Whites will bring to the Bridge. Javi Gracia’s men moved a point clear of the drop zone after their triumph in a basement battle six-pointer against Southampton. The Spaniard tasted defeat in his second outing in charge, as Leeds were dumped out of the FA Cup courtesy of Fulham.

The trip to Stamford Bridge will be demanding, despite the current turbulent period. But it could only be a matter of time before the array of new players turns the screw. Is it going to happen against Leeds? We’re going to find out on Saturday.

Prediction: Chelsea to win 2-0
