Manchester United vs Newcastle United
Unfortunately, only one of these big clubs with deep traditions and rich history will climb the 107 steps to the royal box to collect a winners medal and the first domestic trophy on offer in England. Eddie Howe and his Magpies have done well this season. Yes, they’re the richest club in the world right now but they haven’t done anything extraordinary. They’ve made some good signings and played a good brand of football. Despite having more draws than wins, they’ve conceded the lowest number of goals in the league. This mentality explains their current league position and spot in the final. United are into the last 16 of the Europa League but Sunday could give the fans their first taste of success since winning the Europa League in 2017. Erik Ten Hag has been the Red Devils best signing in a while. They are finally on the right path and will see the Carabao Cup as the first steps to bringing back the glory days. Ten Hag has United playing an exciting and attacking brand of football and, importantly, the players are buying into his philosophy. United will be without Christian Eriksen, but they have enough quality and talent to get the job done. If red-hot Marcus Rashford goes off the boil, Newcastle could pounce on that. Newcastle has serious issues in the goalkeeping department. Nick Pope is suspended, and Martin Dubravka is cup-tied (due to his spell at United). So, either Mark Gillespie or Loris Karius will be between the poles. United are favourites, while the Toon, cup finalists for the first time in 24 years, have the team to damper United’s high after defeating Barcelona last night. Weird Fact: If United win, Newcastle’s Dubravka will receive a winner’s medal.

Rivals: an Orlando Pirates fan and a Kaizer Chiefs fan sound off before the Soweto derby.
The Soweto Derby Kaizer Chiefs vs Orlando Pirates
Gone With the Wind is a classic movie from the 1930s. And just like that title, so too is the DSTV Premiership title, courtesy of Mamelodi Sundowns. But that second CAF spot is still open, and we do have the Soweto Derby this weekend. The winner will surely be favourites to take that spot. Some fans will argue the iconic clash of arguably two of Africa’s biggest clubs has lost its prestige. But the majority are still willing to fill FNB stadium and hope they can go home with bragging rights. Neither Chiefs nor Pirates have been models of consistency this season. Pirates have shown greater signs of it recently with five wins from five matches in all competitions. Chiefs have won two, lost four and drawn one from seven. If Amakhosi’s derby debutants, Christian Saile and Mduduzi Shabalala rise to the occasion, they will ease the pressure on coach Arthur Zwane. On form alone, Chiefs are the underdogs. But I think they have a slight advantage. We know the derby day cliché; form goes out the window. Derbies are never a goal fest but I’m going with the underdogs.

Chiefs to win 2-1 & you can get them in our Correct Score market at 9/1 right now!
Tottenham vs Chelsea
Sunday’s curtain raiser to the Carabao Cup final happens to be the biggest Premiership clash this weekend. Spurs and Chelsea are set for a cracking encounter, with the spotlight heavily on both managers. It’s simple for Spurs. If Conte stays away, they should pick up the win under Cristian Stellini. While Conte has been recovering from surgery, his assistant has been 3 for 3. Harry Kane has nine goal contributions (G7, A2) against Chelsea, across 21 meetings. And he’s most likely to add to his tally. Graham Potter is still being backed by the Chelsea hierarchy, despite the loss to Southampton last time out. But things change quick in modern day football. Defeat on Sunday could find the club in the bottom half of the table and make his sacking, 6 months into a 5-year contract, more likely. Somehow, the Blues will need their new signings to put on a show and stop the downward spiral. Hard to call this but Spurs has the edge on this one.

Tottenham to win 2-1 & you can get them in our Correct Score market at 8/1 right now!
