Arsenal vs Manchester United
Big weekend ahead for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal. Erik Ten Hag and his Red Devils make the trip to North London knowing they can throw a spanner in the works for the Gunners. A win for either side will be massive in the way the title race plays out. United faced Crystal Palace on Wednesday night. A win would’ve closed the gap to Arsenal. But a stunning stoppage-time free kick from Michael Olise earned the Eagles a point. The biggest loss for the Red Devils was Casemiro. The Brazilian was cautioned with ten minutes to go and is suspended for the trip to North London. Arsenal are making history. Their points tally of 47 from 18 games is their highest in EPL history. This Sunday they face the only team to have beaten them this season. Arteta will expect his lads to show the same level of performance that we saw in their North London derby win. Casemiro’s absence could lead to Martin Odegaard running wild in midfield. That could prove to be vital in securing the 3 points. Amazing game for the neutrals, Arsenal to edge this one.
Liverpool vs Chelsea
Liverpool(9th) and Chelsea(10th) are having a rather ominous season in contrast to their general high standards. Both managers cannot deal with another loss now, so we could be in for a cracking affair. The Reds advanced to the 4th round of the FA Cup after their 1-0 replay win over Wolves. This could be the catalyst that Jurgen Klopp needed ahead of Chelsea’s visit. At home, with the Kop behind them, Liverpool should give Klopp the win he wants in his 1000th game in charge. Injuries to key players have played a part in the Reds poor season, but this is sort of game that new signing Cody Gakpo will be expected to shine. Victory over Palace has kept the dark clouds away from Stamford Bridge. For now. But if Mr. Potter can’t weave some Hogwarts magic, his time could end abruptly. Chelsea has been terrible away from home. If he is handed a debut, this is the sort of cagey game where new big-money signing Mykhailo Mudryk could make a statement. Don’t see this to be a high-scoring affair but Liverpool will do enough to seal the win.
Kaizer Chiefs vs Sundowns
On the local front, there’s only place to turn our attention to on Saturday evening, and that will be FNB Stadium. The mighty Amakhosi were humbled by AmaZulu in their last outing and now it’s time to bounce back. Unfortunately, for Mr. Zwane and his boys, they face table-topping Sundowns. This is going to be a long night for the Chiefs. Despite having most of the possession against Usuthu, and 15 shots on goal, Chiefs failed to find the back of the net. Apart from Siyabonga Ngezana, coach Middendorp will have a strong squad to select from and hope they can turn the tide on the Brazilians. Sundowns are going for a record 12 consecutive League wins. Coach Rhulani Mokwena hasn’t been shy in stating their success is based on their financial muscle. When taking all factors into account, Chiefs must be fancied to put a goal past this Mamelodi Sundowns side, but a single goal likely won’t be enough.
