THE KING AND QUEEN OF FRANCE

The 2026 French Open produced two memorable champions as Mirra Andreeva and Alexander Zverev lifted their maiden Roland-Garros singles titles in Paris over the weekend.

Both players delivered outstanding performances throughout the tournament, marking significant milestones in their careers.

In the women’s final, 19-year-old Mirra Andreeva continued her remarkable rise by defeating Poland’s Maja Chwalińska 6-3, 6-2 to secure her first Grand Slam crown.

The Russian teenager dominated the championship match with a composed display beyond her years, becoming the first Russian woman to win a Grand Slam singles title since 2014. Andreeva dropped just one set throughout the tournament and confirmed her status as one of the brightest young stars in world tennis.

On the men’s side, Alexander Zverev finally captured the elusive major title that had long evaded him. The German defeated Italy’s Flavio Cobolli in a thrilling five-set final, winning 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-1.

After setbacks in earlier Grand Slam finals, Zverev showed strong resilience to claim his first major title and become the first German man in decades to win the Roland-Garros crown.

Their victories signal the beginning of a new chapter in tennis, with Andreeva announcing herself as a future superstar and Zverev finally breaking through on the sport’s biggest stage.
