SEMENYO SEALS CUP WIN
Manchester City’s mid-season signing Antoine Semenyo secured the FA Cup crown with a sweet moment of magic in Saturday’s clash with Chelsea at the home of football.
Pep Guardiola’s side produced a disciplined performance to secure yet another major trophy and cap off an impressive domestic campaign.
City broke Chelsea’s resistance midway through the second half. After controlling possession for much of the match, they completed a slick attacking move with a composed finish from their star forward, sparking celebrations among the City fans behind the goal.
The third FA Cup success of Guardiola’s reign ended City’s run of two successive defeats in the final against Crystal Palace and Manchester United.
Guardiola, who also lifted the trophy in 2023 and 2019, has now won 20 trophies since his arrival in Manchester. There is still the big title to fight for and if City defeats Crystal Palace on Tuesday night, then it will take their fight with Arsenal to the final day of the season.
However, two cups this season is not a bad thing at all, and pressure will be on Arsenal to get a result against Burnley on Monday night. Any slip-up will be catastrophic with City ready to pounce.
