PSG AND ATLETICO ENTER SEMIS

The UEFA Champions League quarter-final second legs delivered high drama, with both ties showcasing resilience, clinical finishing, and contrasting styles as Paris Saint-Germain and Atlético Madrid booked their places in the semi-finals.

At Anfield, PSG produced a composed and ruthless display to beat Liverpool 2-0 on the night and 4-0 on aggregate. Ousmane Dembélé was the difference-maker, scoring twice late on after Liverpool had dominated large spells but did not convert chances. A controversial overturned penalty and a severe injury further derailed the hosts, while PSG’s attacking quality ultimately proved decisive.

In Spain, Atlético survived a tense night against FC Barcelona, losing 2-1 in the second leg but progressing 3-2 on aggregate. Early Barcelona goals threatened a comeback, but a crucial strike from Ademola Lookman restored Atlético’s advantage. Despite relentless pressure and a late red card in the game, Diego Simeone’s side held firm.

Looking ahead, PSG will face either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich, while Atlético Madrid await Arsenal or Sporting CP in the semi-finals.

PSG’s attacking firepower and experience make them strong contenders to reach the final, while Atlético’s defensive resilience and tactical discipline give them a realistic, if slightly tougher, path. Both sides, however, have shown they have the qualities needed to go all the way.

The remaining semi-final spots will be decided tonight with Arsenal and Bayern Munich favourite to advance.
