PITSO CLOSER THAN EVER
Pitso Mosimane’s high-profile return to Bafana Bafana appears close, but the deal has not been finalized as contract negotiations continue.
The South African Football Association (SAFA) has supported Mosimane’s return and increased its initial offer after his camp rejected a proposed R5 million-a-year package. Reports suggest SAFA has now doubled the offer to about R10 million per year, although final terms, including bonuses and other conditions, are still being negotiated.
Mosimane was dissatisfied with the initial package, especially considering his reputation and success at both international and club level. His return would mark his second stint as Bafana coach, after previously leading South Africa from 2010 to 2012.
SAFA’s NEC has approved his appointment, with only a few final details still to be resolved before the much-anticipated comeback is officially announced.
