CAMEROON CROWNED WAFCON CHAMPIONS!
Cameroon have finally ended their long wait for continental glory, defeating Malawi 3-0 in the 2026 WAFCON final in Rabat to lift the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations trophy for the first time.
The Indomitable Lionesses produced a sensational first-half performance, effectively killing off the contest before the break. Marie Ngah opened the scoring in the 20th minute before Naomi Ndjoah Eto doubled Cameroon’s advantage just nine minutes later.
Ngah then struck again in first-half stoppage time, completing her brace and sending Cameroon into the interval with a commanding 3-0 lead. Malawi, appearing in their first-ever WAFCON final, struggled to find a response against a ruthless Cameroon side.
The triumph was especially sweet for Cameroon after three previous final defeats in 2004, 2014 and 2016. They have now become only the fourth nation to win the women’s continental title, joining Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, and South Africa.
For Malawi, the defeat ended a remarkable debut tournament, but their run to the final secured a historic place in next year’s Women’s World Cup.
For Cameroon, however, the night belonged to history-makers. The wait is finally over!
