The Griquas rugby team made history at Ellis Park with a 27-25 win over the Lions, lifting their first Currie Cup trophy in 55 years.
The game was full of drama. The Lions thought they had won in the final minute, just like last year when the Sharks beat them with a penalty after the hooter. This time, the Lions went ahead late through Lubabalo Dobela’s penalty. When they celebrated a turnover on 80 minutes, it looked over.
But the Television Match Official (TMO) stepped in, ruling a deliberate knock-on. That gave the Griquas a penalty right in front. George Whitehead calmly kicked the points, sealing a famous victory.
Liverpool stayed perfect this season with a 2-1 win over Everton.

At Old Trafford, Manchester United earned a hard-fought 2-1 win over Chelsea.
The match turned when Chelsea’s keeper Robert Sánchez was sent off for a reckless foul. United captain Bruno Fernandes scored his 100th goal for the club, before Casemiro added a second.
Chelsea pulled one back, but United held strong for a big win that may spark their season.
Arsenal and Manchester City shared the points in a 1-1 draw at the Emirates.
City star Erling Haaland scored first, but Arsenal stayed in control with most of the ball. Substitute Gabriel Martinelli struck in stoppage time, saving Arsenal from defeat.
In Formula 1, Max Verstappen proved he is still a contender by winning the Azerbaijan Grand Prix from start to finish.

In the constructors’ race, McLaren leads, but Red Bull is closing in. Verstappen said:
