BAYERN WIN THE FIRST GERMAN TROPHY!

Bayern Munich made an early statement ahead of the new German football season, beating Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup at a packed Signal Iduna Park. The win secured Vincent Kompany’s side the first trophy of the 2026/27 campaign and extended Bayern’s dominance over their biggest domestic rivals.

Bayern controlled much of the opening half and deservedly went into the break two goals ahead. New signing Nathaniel Brown opened the scoring in the 28th minute on his competitive debut, finishing after a clever piece of play created by Michael Olise.

Olise then turned from provider to scorer, doubling Bayern’s advantage in stoppage time at the end of the first half. His performance was arguably the biggest highlight of the evening, as the Frenchman showed exactly why Bayern will be expecting plenty from him this season.

Dortmund, however, refused to surrender. Fabio Silva pulled one back in the 75th minute, giving the home supporters renewed hope, but Bayern’s defence held firm during a tense finale.

Dortmund’s task became even harder when Ramy Bensebaini was shown a straight red card in the 90th minute.

The result sends Bayern into the Bundesliga campaign full of confidence, while Dortmund will take encouragement from their second-half response. With the league season now ready to begin, Bayern have already fired the first warning shot.
