IPL’S Soaring Value Highlights Cricket’s Commercial Boom

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has continued its remarkable financial ascent, with its enterprise value exceeding US$20 billion for the first time.

This latest valuation reflects the league’s growing global appeal, fuelled by lucrative broadcasting rights, sponsorship deals, digital engagement, and rising investor interest.

A significant factor behind the latest surge has been the soaring valuations of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals. The record-breaking sale of RCB, valued at approximately US$1.78 billion, alongside the Rajasthan Royals transaction worth around US$1.65 billion, has reset the market for IPL franchises and reinforced investor confidence in the competition’s long-term commercial potential.

RCB has also become the IPL’s most valuable franchise by brand value, becoming the first team to surpass the US$300 million mark thanks to its enormous fan base, commercial partnerships, and strong digital presence.

Industry analysts believe the IPL’s business model continues to attract global investors, with franchise values expected to climb even higher in the coming years.

The league has evolved beyond a cricket tournament into one of the world’s most powerful sports and entertainment brands, cementing its place among the elite sporting properties worldwide.
