EDWARDS THROWN TO THE WOLVES

Wolverhampton Wanderers have sacked manager Rob Edwards after just seven months in charge, bringing an abrupt end to his return to Molineux. The decision follows Wolves’ disappointing 2025/26 campaign, which ended with relegation from the Premier League after the club finished bottom of the table.

Edwards, who joined from Middlesbrough in November on a three-and-a-half-year contract, was unable to reverse the club’s fortunes despite arriving during a difficult period.

The 43-year-old won just five of his 30 matches as Wolves struggled throughout the season. His departure surprised some supporters, especially as he had already started preparing for life in the Championship.

Reports suggest Wolves are now close to appointing Portuguese coach César Peixoto as they look to rebuild and mount an immediate promotion challenge ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
